bf and weight loss

I am bf my 4mo LO - Ive heard that at about 6mo, weight will begin to come off easier. Have any of you experienced this? I lost my pregnancy weight right away, but my body is so different/ soft around the middle.  I am tring to incorporate exercise/ healthy eating everyday, and really am so anxious about losing the smooshiness.  Any suggestions for things that have worked for you?

Re: bf and weight loss

  • I had a similar experience.  Got back to pre-pregnancy weight by my 6 week checkup but my jeans didn't really fit comfortably til a few months after that.  I think a lot has to do with genetics and body type honestly.  Just try to be as healthy as you can and things will get back to normal eventually Smile Any exercise you do to tone your muscles will help, even if it remains hidden beneath a little extra belly smoosh for a while.

  • exercise and eating right is the only way to get rid of the extra "smooshiness".  Anything from running/swimming/biking/eliptical/walking/lifting etc will help and try to incorporate both high impact cardio with some lifting-- start slow obviously--it will come off but like everything else, it takes a little time and some effort!

    GL to you!

  • I had lost all baby weight as well by time DD turned 4 months.  But my body still needed some work and I added Jillian Michael's 30 day shred to the mix when DD was about 4 1/2 months... I think that helped make a great difference.  I've lost 15 pounds since then and my mid-section looks almost the same as it did before baby.  Good luck to you!

  • That was my experience.  I gradually lost weight until about 5-6 months post partum.  Then the rest pretty much fell off.  I gained about 35 lbs and needed to lose 13 by 5 months post partum.  I was below my pre pg weight by 7 months post partum.  It also helped that spring rolled around and I was able to get back on my bike finally.  Even though I lost all the weight, I was still left with extra skin on my belly that no amount of physical activity was able to take care of.
