Guess I need to clean my house better

Somehow my baby who's not very mobile, doesn't have great pincher skills, and isn't prone to putting things in his mouth, rolled around til he found a tiny piece of a destroyed dog squeaker toy and stuck it in his mouth. Dh saw it when he walked in the door from work. I was cooking but had been constantly checking on him. That could have been scary. It's not like my floor is littered with crap. I don't even know where he found it.

Re: Guess I need to clean my house better

  • Don't feel bad, I think it happens to everyone! My DD can find the tiniest speck of something on the carpet and get it in her mouth lightening fast! No amount of sweeping and vacuuming can get everything up, especially if you have pets! Fortunately, my LO is finally starting to outgrow the put-everything-in-her-mouth stage, so hopefully your little guy will get there soon! Although mobility adds so many new hazards, I think I'm even more paranoid now. ;-)

  • Definitely don't feel bad.  You'll be amazed at the things you will find in your kid's mouth over the next few years.  Or what can FIT in their mouths!  Cooper can get huge things in his mouth.  Freaks me out.   Ben used to be able to find any coin hidden under any piece of furniture.  Coins are scary!

I wouldn't feel bad at all!

I think even if you are the cleanest person in the universe your child will find anything and everything.  I was constantly amazed at what A would find all the time.  I agree with Jill, coins are super scary.

  • Yep, they find everything, no need to feel bad.  At daycare this morning one of the little boys actually pulled a tiny piece of the carpet out and put it in his mouth, and daycare is vigilant about vacuuming and keeping everything off the floor.  The little turds are just resourceful at finding the smallest piece of something!

  • Yeah, don't feel bad.  I remember when LO got the head of a rubber duck stuck in his mouth, I had no idea he could even fit it in his mouth little lone get stuck.
