So- long story short I had preterm labor issues with C. This time around I've already been having contractions (almost went to L&D Sunday night because I had painful contractions for three hours five minutes apart) but my doctor wrote me a script for procardia to help with the contractions and I take them as needed. I am careful about taking them often, because last time I used them every 4 hours as directed by my OB after being let out of the hospital and on bedrest- and within a week my contractions broke through. I don't want to become resistant to it again.
Anyway, I've been having these contractions all week like this at night mostly but also some throughout the day, so taking the procardia as need to make them go away. Last week at the Dr. they told me my cervix is already starting to shorten. GREAT.
Well I am in Louisville as the movers are packing up my house. They started today and won't be done til Friday. I stayed on the couch except to play with C throughout today. I didn't do anything, I was a good girl! And yet tonight- painful cramps- worse than all the rest of the week and tonight I had some red blood. Not a lot, less than a tablespoon I am sure.
SO- I KNOW I need to be seen by a doctor or at least call, but here is my problem. I am in Louisville- my docs are in Cincy. Here are my options:
1. Call the docs in Cincy and go to a hospital here and be seen by an on call doctor and have to deal with whatever they say because my OB's don't have hospital privlidges here.
2. Hubby gets here tomorrow early evening, I could leave and head to Cincy and go straight to Good Sam if needs be to be checked out.
3. Wait til Saturday and head back to Cincy with hubby and get checked out.
4. Just wait til my appointment next Wednesday.
I realize this seems stupid, but the fact is I've been through this before. I had contractions from around 32 weeks on with C. I am at 30 now and they said I would start having issues (if I was going to) probably a bit earlier than I did with C. I had contractions 4-5 minutes apart all day, everyday, for weeks until 33 when they admitted me to L&D administered drugs and steroids and then released me on meds and strict bedrest. I delivered at 37 weeks exactly and had been STILL having the contractions on the meds 4-5 minutes apart for two weeks. It was my own personal hell.
I don't want to go to L&D here since my docs are there, and I really don't want to have to go if all they will do is send me home on bedrest and procardia anyway since I am not doing really anything and taking the meds. I can take the meds every four hours and hope I don't become immune to them again.
I just don't know what to do. DH told me to take the meds tonight and reassess in the morning. So i am just curious- WWYD? I really hate HATE HATE that we have to go through all this RIGHT NOW. This really couldn't wait 48 hours???
