If you have pets what are their names?

I'm curious because we got our pets well before we had a child so we gave them names that we really liked. We have a 7 year old cockatiel named Arlo and a 4 year old cat named Grace. We've actually been thinking about adding the name Arlo to our boy list, but I'm thinking that might be a little weird to have a pet and a child with the same name.

My dog's are Tate and Anni. I don't think I could name my baby the same as my dogs. I would confuse myself!

my daughter picked it. it was right after she met a little girl with the nn Ina (short for Christina) I think thats why she liked it

My dog is Cricket. We did not pick her name.  She was 5 years old when we adopted her and she already had a name. 

Our cat is Tobias.  We named him after the character on Arrested Development.  I personally would not have been interested in using this name for a child even if we hadn't used it for our cat.

Our two cats are Blackie and Lily Mae. Lily was already named when we adopted her, but we added Mae and I have no idea where that came from lol

We have a dog named Sammy. I would still consider Samuel for a son... but H would probably tell him he was named after the dog

The dog that followed me home today is currently asleep on my couch (umm make yourself at home?). I "named" him Duke. H calls him Other Dog.

We have boy girl pugs named:

Bexley Danforth IV (Bex) - He's named after obscure characters from our favorite tv shows. The IV just because it's funny.

and Beverly Antonica Hills (Bevers). LN is Hills so we needed a Beverly. Antonica is a place name in Everquest 2 (an MMORPG for all you mega-geeks like me) 

All names we like but they don't seem appropriate for children. I've always loved the name Beverly but DH's LN made it a big no. I could never give my pets and kids the same name...

My cat's name is Pearl. I got her right around the time that Will Ferrell viral video "Landlord" came out, the little girl in that is named Pearl.

I wouldn't name my daughter Pearl, but I was actually named after a dog my mother had before I was born! The dog was Lindsay, and I'm Lindsey. 

And my husband's family had a dog named Zac growing up, and he also has a younger cousin named Zac (who came along after the dog).

We have fish right now that are named: Sticks, Cousin It, and Ponder.

Growing up my brothers and I had several pets.

Dogs:  Goldie, Maxwell, Simba, Skye, Theodore (Teddy), Tub, Tampon (little brother heard my mom mention to dad that he needed to pick some up...little brother loved the word and insisted on naming his dog this...we talked him into nicknaming the poor thing Tammy)

Cats: Joseph, Curious George (Ceeg), Delilah, Smokey, Mirabelle, and compliments of the same little brother...AirHead

We did the same thing! My husband's all time favorite girl name is Lola, so when we got a puppy there was no question. Her name was Lola. Now he regrets it because he wants to use it if we ever have a daughter. My dad tells us to do it because the kid will live much longer than the dog, but I don't think I could live it down since all of our friends know our dog's name is Lola!

Our cats are Rupert and Mortimer (Mort).  Legit names, but no way we'd name our kid either of them.

My dogs names are Tiko and Iris....they are rescued greyhounds and already had their names for years so we kept them....I do have a cat named Chelsea and it took forever to name her! I went back and forth between Chelsea, Livia, Libby and Chloe.

My little girl is Roxy, and my boy is Scooter (because he was being treated for parasites when we first got him and he used to scoot his @$$ on the floor....).

I wouldn't name my kids either of those lol.. But I do have former fosters/pets that have people names that are cute, but I would now never use them for my children because of the pet reference... Jack, James, Laila, Bella, and Sophia to name a few.

My past pets have been named: Zoey, Rowan (b), Sage (b), Fi (f), Cia (f), and Hutch (b).

My dog is Lola as well, wouldn't have used it for a kid, but it suits her perfectly.

Pet names are JJ, Hunter, Bella, and Ribby. 3 of them were named when I adopted them, so I didn't really pick their names...but all of those names (though a few, in my opinion, are not viable for kid names) are marked off my list.

We named our dog D?n (pronounced Dune).  We lived in Scotland for a few years and we decided that when we had pets they would get Scottish Islands as their names. D?n is the Island you can see from St. Kilda in the outer Heberdies where we did field work.

DH wants to get a female lab and name her Islay (Isla).  I hope to get a newfoundland and name her Jura or him Harris.

Right now I have a dog named Buckel.

In the past, we've had a Taffy (dog), Bubba, Grace, and Hamstead (hamsters), Pip & Squeak (Sugar Gliders), Squishy, Ogi, and Ocha (fish), and Herman (lizard).

I could never name my child the same as my dog.  I can't even name my child the same name as any other animal I've ever met.

We tend  to not use "people" names for our pets though a few have slipped in the list.  I wouldn't use nay of my pet names for a child.

We have a cat named Tacy (after the Betsy-Tacy childrens' books), and another named Paija (which was actually the name of a former student, I liked the name and thought it sounded like a good cat name!).  I actually kind of wish I had saved Tacy (nn for Anastacia) for a girl, but oh well!
