my best friend is a day care provider and had the worst thing happen to her today. She was watching a 2 month old baby for the 4th time ever (she's been watching kids in this family for 4 years and I've known them for about 3 of that). She put the girl down for a nap at 2:30 and 20 minutes later she found her not breathing. The paramedics were not able to save her. They are calling it SIDS. I am so so incredibly sad for the family and for my friend. I know my friend did everything she could and is absolutely not at fault. The family also knows this and isn't blaming her. I couldn't help but cry again just now when I put my boys down for the night. I couldn't imagine... Just trying to process this horrible thing. Thoughts and prayers for the family and for my friend are greatly appreciated. They need so much comfort right now

that is horrible in so many ways for so many people. I'm so sorry.
We use angelcare monitors at home because we were so afraid of SIDS - it gave us a good feeling knowing the alarms would sound if they stopped breathing.... and I always hated that they didn't have them at daycare - but knew it would seem neurotic if I brought the monitors to daycare, too.... and then you hear a story like this

This is so sad. This also happend to a couple I went to high school with, their daughter was 10wks. It's been a year but when you hear it happening again it just brings it all back.
Thinking of those families.
