Warning: crass language ahead! But this book is seriously the funniest thing I've seen. Has anyone seen or read "Go the F*ck to Sleep?" I temporarily uploaded it here. It's a quick read and hilarious.
You don't understand the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch / think he's fug / don't know who he is? WATCH SHERLOCK. Until you do, your negative opinion of him will not be taken seriously.

Are you kidding? Authors KILL for this kind of press. I don't feel bad for him at all. His book sales are going to be through the roof. They actually should've released this before Father's day because as CG noted, it'd be a GREAT gift for fathers or mothers alike. It's sad that someone internally leaked it, but oh man, I would've never otherwise thought to buy a book like this.
As a writer though, I totally understand wanting copyright laws, etc. enforced to protect the work. But honestly, I don't think his sales will suffer but in fact increase due to this. They've already landed on the amazon top seller's list on presales alone.

Really? I would think people wouldn't buy it now that they've already read the whole thing... I guess I don't know how the industry works. I would think if you could get it for free, you wouldn't still buy it. But if people are still buying it, then good for him. I hope he makes a fortune because it is GOLD.

Actually, you make a good point. I think in the case of a chapter book like what happened with Stephanie Meyer's final book, yes it can hamper sales or eliminate them altogether. But since this is a picture book, I gather it's something that people will want on the coffee table like a chotsky :-) I also think this book would make a good gag gift or joke gift and something you want to physically hand to someone.
It's like the guy who wrote the book "Stuff White People Like." Originally it was a web phenomena and then he got a book deal and turned it into a book. The book didn't really have a whole lot of original stuff, but I bought it anyway because I wanted it on my bookshelf :-)
And I'm with you, I hope he makes a fortune. I loved that NYP article though about how the generation that's having kids right now doesn't really feel like they're grown ups. I can totally relate to that.

I was also impressed that they were able to track down the source of the "leak"...
I still think it wa sa bad bad move to have it released in October instead of April. Al I wanted for Mother's Day was this book, but I figured I 'd be over it by October so I didn't preorder.

I can only hope I'll be over it by October! I might still buy it anyway.
Being that I appreciate copyright laws, I'm annoyed that his book was leaked.
I, too, wish it was published in time for Mother's Day. I would have bought a handful for friends!
Love: 8/2000 | Marriage: 7/2005 | Baby makes three: 3/28/2007 | And one more makes...SIX?
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
