Leaving for New York City for a girls trip tomorrow! There are 6 of us
girls going and I can't wait! I am looking for suggestions on lunch
places and Sunday brunch. We are staying on W 48th Street but it doesn't
have to be close to where we are staying.
Re: NYC, eating suggestions
If this isn't your first or 2nd time and you've already hit up the more touristy spots, I would definitely recommend this place in Hell's Kitchen called Arriba Arriba and also down in Chelsea on 9th is Buddakan. I *crave* this food all the time when I'm here. Also Fatty Crab is delish.
And if you're adventurous, I highly recommend signing up for flying trapeze classes at TSNY!!! It's the most exciting experience!
ETA: My favorite date EVER with my husband was the following: Drinks and apps at Buddakan, followed by drinks at sushi at Morimoto, and then finally champagne and dessert at Del Posto. All within walking distance of each other, all Iron Chef restaurants, all top notch.
Is Buddakan where Dale from Top Chef works?
I have no clue! I went two years ago when I was going up there monthly for work and became hooked immediately. The lobster eggrolls and chili rock shrimp...hubba bubba. It's a Morimoto restaurant I believe and I do know it was featured in SATC for the Rehearsal Dinner.
Yes it is.
I don't know how much of where I used to go is closed, but since you're not only going to eat lunch, try Burger Heaven for lunch. Also, love Pita Grill. Both are "chains" but consistently good. I also love 'wichcraft. I am a ridiculously big fan of Tom Collichios, long before Top Chef. Check out a few food trucks too.
Ditto Balthazar for brunch. (Pretty much anything Keith McNally does)
My most favorite place in NY closed on New Years, so that's out, but check out Restaurant Hearth or Terroir.
I love Serafina's in midtown--great Italian. Magnolia's for cupcakes (so yummy).
Tao has great food and atmosphere. We always hit one of Mario Batali's restaurants too (Otto is our favorite)
