Do you have problems with DH...

...eating the children's food?  Both my kids are really picky eaters and it kills my menu for the week when DH eats their food.  Specifically breakfast.  He will make himself oatmeal and then eat their muffin tops or waffles too.  And the goldfish....DH will eat an entire bag in two days.  Um, for the kids.  For the kids.

DH will also grab stuff out of the fridge, like a tomato, and take it to work.  Then I got to get it for dinner and it is gone. It kills me.  I've asked him not to take things without asking as I buy specifically for menus.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Sorta.  Although specifically DH does breakfast for the girls in the morning.  They eat crappy cereal for breakfast for the most part and he knows I hate that so he handles breakfast while I hide away in the bedroom and drink coffee and pretend like they are eating scrambled eggs and fruit.  But anyway, he wastes SO MUCH MILK AND CEREAL EVERY FREAKING MORNING.  He pours a bowl for my 2 year old that reminds me of when I would visit my brother in college and his roommate would pour half a box of cereal in a large mixing bowl with about a quarter gallon of milk.  But yes, he also eats their fruit snacks, granola bars, and drinks all the Capri Suns I buy for Emma's lunchbox.  And also, if he cleans the kitchen after dinner he throws away produce that should go back in the fridge, like half an onion or bell pepper.

I sorta can't complain about it though because he does feed them breakfast and he does clean up the kitchen so I guess I have to pick my battles.

  • Your hubby can find his way around the kitchen? Have him give mine a lesson, lol. I can see how that would be quite frustrating. It's like having to label your foods in the college fridge again.

I actually buy some specific foods just for DH. No one else in the house eats those items except for him. He's a terrible midnight muncher (thank goodness he's a runner). He always has to have chips and salsa, cookies of some sort, fussy cheese and table wafers, and other nibbles. I try to make it a practice NOT to keep too much of that kind of thing in the house, but he's much happier when he has his snacks.

Geneva even knows that the Fig Newtons are "Papa Cookies."

Ditto this! I have told hubby please dont give the kids so much... he does it at dinner too when he is home to feed them. It goes in one ear and out the other. Then gets mad when they don't eat all their food. I told him give them little portions.. if they eat all of it and ask for more then give them more at your descretion.

He doesn't eat the kids snack or food or anything. I get him his own snacks. He loves cheez its and nuts. If anything the kids eat his stuff.

I just get a little mad when I know I had something in the fridge that was for dinner and when I take it out to re heat it is gone because he took it for lunch. I don't complain about it though.

  • DH will eat Colin's snacks, chicken nuggets, drink the damn juicy juice, you name it. I even caught him stealing the chocolate milk boxes. SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!! I will have 'grown up' cookies for him but he will still eat the teddy grahams or anything else in the individual packs that I have on hand for school lunches or snacks. So YES, I have this issue.
