Multiples

Thank you and baby pictures!

Hello everyone!  Just popping on to say HI, and thank you for being such a great resource for me over the last month or so, after having discovered his board.  I delivered our twins on April 29th via scheduled C-section at 38w1d.  Teagan Leigh weighed 6 lbs 7 oz and Tristan Shayne was 6 lbs, 10 oz.  Everyone is healthy and happy, and I look forward to asking you gals more questions in the near future.

While we're at it, does anyone have any tips on getting the babies to sleep in their crib instead of on me?  I do not remember having this issue w/ DD1, and I would really like to lay down in bed sometime soon.

  • So glad everyone is healthy, home and happy!  We're sleeping in bouncy seats b/c of reflux for the time being...I think the vibrating helps!

  • Congratulations! Your babies are adorable! :)

As for sleeping, I would suggest a tight swaddle and/or a vibrating bouncy seat.

    Good luck!

  • Congrats, they are precious!  Love the pic of big sis too!!

I think as for sleeping....(now maybe I'm the mean mom)...I would just put them there and eventually they will figure out that's where sleeping happens.  It's harder when they are so teeny tiny new, but my thought is if they get in the habit of sleeping in your arms now and for the next 2 months it will only be that much harder to re-train them to sleep in their own beds.  Good luck!!!!

ETA:  the bouncy seat comments remind me...my son had to sleep in his car seat for about 3 weeks, swaddling didn't work but he wanted that close, more confined feeling I guess.  So try the bouncy seat if you can!

  • Congrats!  They are adorable!  As far as sleeping, I wish I could give you advice...mine are 8 weeks old and DS still sleeps on DH in recliner and DD sleeps on me on the couch.  We did the swadding blanket with DD for a couple of weeks and I thought the problem was solved...wrong!  She started fighting that dang blanket and refused to sleep with it on.  But with it off, she will not sleep on her back for any length of time.  I had to go back to work last week, so I resorted back to having her sleep on me.  She eats and goes right back to sleep that way.  DH and I have slept in our bed maybe 3 times since they've been born. :-(
  • Congrats, they are precious!
