NBR: Seattle Recs?

Looks like my mom & I are going to be heading to Seattle for a little girls trip (and a little bit of work for her). I'm SUPER excited! Neither of us have ever been to that part of the country and it will be so fun just to have some girl time.

So, anyone have any recs for me for the Seattle area?

Re: NBR: Seattle Recs?

  • Obviously, you have to do the touristy stuff: Mt. Rainier, Space Needle, Pike Place Market. The Experience Music project is neat.

There is a lot of good shopping downtown.

If you like sushi, go to Red Fin which is in Hotel Max. We stayed at that hotel and had heard the sushi was good so we made our Seattle friends meet us there. They are total foodies and thought it was the best sushi they'd ever had.

Palace Kitchen is another good place to eat.

Have fun! I LOVE Seattle and wish I could go every year.

  • DH and I spent 3 weeks driving through Washington state, Oregon and Vancouver, and it was amazing! We spent several days in Seattle and there are TONS of good places to eat and things to do and see (we did everything the PP mentioned). You should get a guide book or just look on Trip Advisor online for suggestions. There is a lot of good shopping, the main drag area reminded me of NYC and there is coffee on every corner-we even went to the very first ever Starbucks near Pikes Place market! You will love it!

ETA: We also took a tour of the water area by ferry and saw the Sleepless in Seattle houseboat!!

  • I lived there for almost three years - there are so many fun things to do! I definitely suggest Pike Place Market, there is nothing like it. And don't just do the top floor with the fish throwing and the fruits and veggies, go down the ramp near the middle and discover all the small shops downstairs. There is a really cool magic shop kids always love.

The aquarium is on the waterfront and is really fun too. You can also ride a ferry out onto the sound (it is awesome if the weather is good). You get a great view of the entire city. Ride it to Bremerton and look around there for a bit if you'd like, or just go on a round trip.

There is a zoo just north of the city that is pretty great too. Also, at Seattle Center, where the Space Needle is, there is a science museum for kids. Seattle Center in general is great for kids.

Ride the Light Rail into the city from the airport if at all possible. It's a great ride and so much easier and cheaper than taxis. The city is beautiful, especially this time of year. Just walk around and enjoy it!
