F/U to - Sippy Cups - What Am I Doing Wrong?

The girls LOVE straw cups.  LOVE them.  They think it's the best toy ever.  So I moved to those and everyone is happy.

Someone mentioned...was it Shell...can't remember...that it might be a developmental thing if they can't tip their heads back.  I don't think that's the problem.  They occasionally like to watch Baby Einstein and Yo Gaba Gaba upside down.  Very weird, I know!  They stand with their backs up against my leathe ottoman/coffee table and tip their head back so they can watch.  So I know they are capable of tipping their heads back.  Not sure if that's what you meant though....

  • What brand has worked for you?  I got the girls the Nuby ones, but you have to bite the straw, then suck on it.  They seem confused by this.  LOL

  • My friend brought over a straw cup from REI - it's a Camelback.  You also have to "bite" the straw a little bit.

I just picked up the Nuby ones last night, because the REI ones are expensive.  I'll let you know if the girls have problems with it today- I just washed them.

This is my problem also - my boys are 13 months old and do ok with sippies (although not at all for milk) but not great.  I thought that they would do better with a straw cup but every one I have bought is the kind they have to bite and they don't get it.  I would love to find one that has a straw that they don't have to bite down on.

  • I'm not even coordinated to use the camelback water bottles, the whole bite then suck thing is above my head. Stick out tongue

  • My babies love love the Tommee tippee explora straw  cups.  You don't have  to bite them to drink.  They are spill proof but a little tricky to put together (some would say not worth it).

LOL...i recently bought a cambek water bottle and i was having a tough time with it. I thought it would be simple since my son uses the sippy cups everyday! I was like "How does he do this?!"

  • We have tried so so so many different cups, and some leak, some are impossible to suck thru, some just are crap. Nuby makes the ones DD has had the easiest time with, and they are becoming harder to find!!!

These are the only ones we really use:

  • AnaMommy or Amanda, do they have to bite the Nuby straws to drink?  I had heard about those but they didn't have them at my BRU so I couldn't see them in person.  I bought the tommy tippee straw cups and you have to bite those straws too so no dice there.

  • We had the Munchkin and Nuby straw cups and both worked well for my girls.  I bought them a few years ago, but back then they didn't have to bite down at all to drink from them.

Yes.  It's not like they have to chomp down on it though.  I got the Nuby Flip and Sips from Target.
