We should be BFF. Not only do our daughters have the same name, we ate at mesh this weekend, Todd just got his phish tickets, and I'm getting a new bike. LOL I did want to be a doctor but decided after a couple of years of college that it wasn't for me. After dating a couple of residents, I was really glad I made that choice--you amaze me for surviving residency with 2 kids!
Let me know what you find out about trailers--we're looking to get one too but maybe closer to summer when Josie is closer to one.
Re: Whitney
Wow! You're not kidding! You guys need to move downtown and buy the house next door
Which shows is Todd going to, and are you going along? I'm still hoping for a Deer Creek date too, but it's not looking good. FWIW I'm not sure I'd choose medicine as a career again - I think you were the smart one there. I often question my sanity.
As far as bike trailers go, at first I was thinking one of the cheaper models (like the InStep) with the option to upgrade if we decided we were using it enough. We have a standard child seat attached to one bike for Jocelyn that we've used since she was about a year, but we are looking at getting a double trailer anyway. I love the Burleys - I just can't justify $500+. I've been keeping an eye out on Craigslist (there's a single on there for $250 right now, if you're interested) but I just found out that one of my colleagues has a double Burley they're interested in selling. I think we'll probably jump on that deal. I'm sure this qualifies us for worst parents of the year, but we are thinking about rigging up the carseat or snuggler in the bike trailer once Connor is a bit older. We've been reading a lot about it, and I think it's doable once he has more control - there are lots of super bike enthusiasts out there who are doing it. In Europe they are big on cargo bikes but a nice one wasn't in our budget - they haul infants around in those things and they seem less protected to me in some ways. Anyway, I think we'll try it and see if it feels safe; if not we'll hold off. We are really excited to get back to riding!
Our neighbors took their daughter out last summer--she was born in February. I think if they have good enough head control they'll be fine. It seems like $50-100 is what most used ones are going for unless they are a big name. Once upon a child had a few for $75.
He's going to all 3 nights in Chicago and I think 1 in Michigan and 2 in ohio. That's cutting back for him. He's still bitter he missed alpine valley last year since it was a few weeks after Josie was born. We may go to bonaroo. As of now I'm not going to any unless they add some closer--he's going with my brother and his best friend to the first 3 and the Chicago shows will just be him and his best friend. They are the week we start school in August so not a great option for me!
