ds coughing so hard he threw up :(

ds has had a drainage type cough for a day or so. today he came home from daycare with a 101 fever.  Tylenol didn't do much, but the motrin we were finally able to give him did.  His fever is down for now, but when he lays down to go to bed he coughs so much and so hard that he finally puked.  He's sitting up in a chair right now. Gonna be a long night/day...I wish there was something I could do for him.

My youngest has asthma & used to do this a lot.  Our pedi recommended benadryl to get her calmed down enough to get to sleep.  Coughing always increases at night & it's just really hard for them NOT to cough when they lay down.  I think the bottle says not for children under 4, but my pedi gave me the go-ahead.  I think you can find appropriate dosing for weight on the Dr Sears website- or you can just google.  Good luck- poor little buddy
