Installing Graco Snugride without base

So we are going to Florida on Thursday for a mini vacation and a wedding.  DD is still in her infant (barely...switching to the convertible when we get back) so we are bringing that with us to put in the rental car.  I have been told that you can install it without the base.  Is that hard and a PITA?  Do you need anything special to do that?

BTW...we have the Graco Snugride.

  • It should show you in the manual. It is very simple.

  • We have the safeseat, and the directions are on the side of the seat.  We just put the seatbelt over the top, essentially.
  • Ditto the pp - we took our Snugrides on vacation with us without the bases and they were very easy to install.  The instructions are on the side and you just pull the seatbelt across and cinch it tight.
  • There's actually a diagram on the side of the carseat. It's easy. We did this in May for our trip to WA. Just make sure you double check that you always buckle it in, since the habit of just snapping the seat into a base dies hard.
  • Very easy - just use the seatbelt over the car seat, it fits into the little slots.  Look at the manual.
