Pregnant after IF

Hema Update

I finally saw a hematologist this past Friday. I was having trouble breathing again and pain in my left lung...which he attributes to either scar tissue, or a piece of a clot broke off and went to my lung. There's nothing they can do about this now....but he said it should get better over time.

The highlights of the meeting were:

- 2 shots of Lovenox p/day for rest of pregnancy (120 dose), switching to Heparin before delivery (Heparin is 3 shots per day). Then switching to Coumadin.

-  He said I got my clots in an unusual place (jugular and arm). He thinks there is another inherited clotting disorder that contributed....or just extremely high estrogen from OHSS.

- MTHFR is not that big of a deal (according to him) so that is not the culprit.

Ugh. I really wish my RE never took me off Lovenox for that 1 week. I only spotted once from my SCH, and during that week, I developed the clots and swelled up like Shrek.

I'm so glad you have a plan in place and so sorry you are having to go through all of this.  It has to be scary.  But, it sounds like your hema is on the ball.

I've been keeping you in my T&P, hon.

  • I'm glad you have a plan.  Although I don't love doing my two shots of Lovenox a day you couldn't pay me enough to stop doing them as I'm super paranoid about getting another clot.

My hema doesn't think MTHFR is a big deal either.

Hope you have smooth sailing from here on out.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
