I'm considering using cloth diapers...though still not sure. Can anyone recommend a diaper service that they like? What have your experiences been like with cloth? Thanks!
We used Modern Diaper Service, which at the time was the only one available in the area. They were great - affordable, timely, and flexible when we wanted to change orders etc. They also do gift certificates, so we got two free months at my baby showers.
I've heard there is another service now in Takoma Park that's eco-friendly . . . Here you go: https://www.2theroot.com/.
If you do a service, I would recommend buying several extra covers and Snappis, since they only provide you with one. Good luck!
We own our diapers and launder at home, but my MIL offered diaper service to us as a gift and it wasn't a fit for us. Last I checked, the only service in NoVA just does prefolds. While I like PFs, there are much more user-friendly options. Plus PFs are cheap enough that buying them just makes sense unless you have coin-operated laundry. Laundering---again, provided you have easy/free access to a washer-- is very simple if you exclusively breastfeed, as the poo is water soluble and comes out in the wash. If you formula feed or when baby starts solids, you'll have to scrape or spray the poo--but that still is very doable.
If you want to buy your own, check out Abby's Lane in Manassas (and online). It is the only CD store in the area that I know of and they are great. I did my CD registry on their website. The Cloth Diapering board on the Bump also was helpful while we were getting started.
