Cloth Diapering

What size wet bag do you use?

I got one of the hanging "All Day" Rumparooz wet bags, do any of you know how many diapers it holds?

Then my next question is, what wet bag do you use and if you use a wet bag do you also use a diaper pail with a liner as well?

Last how many wet bags do you have, for the size of your house, we live in a 2 bedroom condo, and I'm thinking one wetbag should be enough, but I wasn't sure because I don't know how much the Rumparooz wet bag holds, and I'm trying to figure out if we can say no to the pail or just have both because we will be washing every 3 days.

And then I'm wondering if we have both can I dump the wet bag diapers into the pail when it gets full, or would that not be good.

Sorry for all of the questions, but thank you for any help!

Re: What size wet bag do you use?

  • I have two large wet/dry bags for daycare and longer day trips (zoo, going to parents, etc). A friend made them for me. They can easily hold up to 10 diapers. More if you stuff.

Then I have a smaller wet bag that holds 2-3 diapers for short trips (grocery, church, errands, etc.)

For around the house we just have a trash can (with lid) in our laundry room with a pillowcase in it.  Our house is small (1400 sq ft, one story) so that is all we need.

  • I've only been at this for a few months, but I've found a system that works really well for me.  We live in a 2 story townhouse with bedrooms upstairs and laundry down.

Instead of a diaper pail, we opted to get a touchless (motion sensor) kitchen trash can to leave downstairs next to our pack n play.  Since we're downstairs a lot during the day, the majority of the diaper changes at this point take place at the pack n play changing station.  We line that with a Kissaluvs PUL antibacterial pail liner and it works perfectly (I think it's 30x24")!  I could fit every single one of our 22 BG 4.0s in there, though I do the CD laundry every 2-3 days.  We have 2 of those pail liners so that one is always in the trash can and the other is always being washed and line dried with the diapers.

Since we don't have anything to put diapers in upstairs where we have the nursery, which is really half of our bedroom, we use a small wet bag that can fit about 3 diapers.  We like the Kushie's "on the go" bags for that and have another one of those in the diaper bag as well.  Every morning I just bring down the diapers from the night before and add them to trash can and take the smaller bag back upstairs at a later time.

We also have a diaper sprayer attached to the downstairs toilet in close proximity to our diaper "pail" and right across from the laundry room.  I've found it really convenient to have one.

That's just what works for us.  I think it really depends on the layout of your place, how often you want to do laundry, etc.
