I was shocked to see how many ladies received gifts from their moms and/or MILs on Mother's Day. I've gotten cards from my MIL in the past, but never a gift and never anything from my own mom. I wouldn't have ever thought they'd give ME a gift.
My mom gave me a mother's day gift one year, when DD was 3yo, I think. It was a very special item that she gave to me, as one mom to another, and she said it was because it made her proud to see what a good mom I had become. It was a one time only thing between the two of us and I would rank it as one of the top two best (as in most meaningul) gifts I ever received. The other one would be my wedding ring.
On Mother's Day we GIVE gifts to my mom, MIL and grandmother. Never, ever in a million years would I have ever thought that THEY might give me a Mother's Day git. That's a totally foreign idea to me.
My mom gave me and my SIL sunflower seeds. They were my grandparents' favorite flower. She gave some to my aunt too and she doesn't even have children. Both my mom and my step-mom always just do a little something for me on Mother's Day. Honestly, it surpises me too.

My mom got me flowers which really defeats the purpose because I get her flowers. I told her she needs to stop since she's MY mom, I'm not hers. She gets them because I am a mom, I get it, but I rather just give her something and let my DH and DD do that for me.
My mom has gotten me something every year for mothers day. This year it was a mani/pedi. In fact, when I was a teenager, she bought me a gift for mothers day each year for NOT being a mother. It was sort of a joke.

My mom does give me stuff every year, since I'm the mom of her grandkids I guess I'm not complaining, they gave me a jogging stroller and a new tennis raquet after DS #1 was born...wonder if they were trying to tell me to get my fat ass back in shape?? This year they gave me money to get my house cleaned...guess it's looking pretty dirty, HA!
My mom helped ds pick out a mother's day gift for him to give me. I am single mom, and his dad wouldn't think of doing something like this, so my mom fills in.
Every so often my mom will get me a gift for mother's day but its not often and not veyr much money. Last year she got me a nice necklace but typically its just a card. My 1st few Mother's Days my ILs got me a small gift - last year just a card and this year, a hanging plant for the front yard.
Re: Uh, people's MOMS give them gifts on Mother's Day?
Not mine. But I'm the devil incarnate.
That's what I get for posting before my brain is awake, and in a hurry. le sigh.
