...any update on Ryan? Hope you were sent home and were able to enjoy some of Mother's Day. Sick kiddos are hard enough without throwing breathing trouble and ER visits into the mix.
The Bump was down last night when I tried to update. :(He was discharged last night and we got home about 8pm. He got 2 nebulizers in the ER and once he was admitted and had a room, he got 3 more over the course of the day. He did great between them and right after, but once it wore off his wheezing would come right back. In fact, at one point, we were waiting for paperwork to go home, had his shoes on and everything, and the nurse came in to more wheezing, so sent the respiratory therapist back in and we had to stay for another treatment and another dose of steroids. it's crazy how quick it comes on.
so now we have a home nebulizer (finally) and oral steroids AND inhaled steroids. He takes the oral for 5 days to get on top of it, then the inhaled ones he needs to take 2x a day during the "season". So basically October thru mid June. We stopped since he hadn't needed it a while, but the Ped at the hospital thought important he ALWAYS be it to prevent ER visits since this was our 6th visit for the same thing.
they wanted us to give the nebulizer to him round the clock every 4 hours last night and today. Told us to set our alarm and get up. The good thing is he doesn't have to be awake! DH and I went it and gave him the treatment and he didn't wake up once! Lol
Other than wheezing, he is his usual happy, busy self.
DH got up with him and Audrey this morning and made me breakfast in bed. It was nice not having to spend it in the hospital!
hope you had a great mothers day and thank you for asking about us!
Wow, that sounds like a lot to take on, but as long as he's happy and getting healthier...Moms will do anything right? So funny he did not even wake up!. My friend's 2YO was just diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes. After 3 weeks of 4 pricks per day (!) she went in one night to test her before she fell asleep and her LO slowly held up her little finger and said sleepily without even opening her eyes "Mama test"...kids are resilient!
I was wondering how he was doing too! Glad you were discharged and that you were all able to spend Mother's Day at home together! I hope that his breathing continues to get better!
That is a scary way to spend Mother's Day weekend. I am glad he's doing better. Poor little peanut. Give him lots of extra hugs from us Bumpies, and give yourself a big hug too! There's nothing more heartbreaking than a sick kiddo.

Thanks for the update, I was wondering too!
I hope the home treatments do the trick and no more ER visits.
