**Cute lunch check-in**

Happy Mother's Day! I'm not sure if I'll do a check-in next week. It'll be a busy week entertaining OOT guests and DD's 4th birthday party. Have a great week and try making a cute lunch for your little one!

I was going for "dragonfly" here, but I think I missed the mark! Hummus/pita chips surrounded by orange slices, cheese "wings" and picks of grapes and tomato/fresh mozzarella.

We got a new dog this day, a pound dog named Bo. Sandwich dog house (boo! I lost the letter "B" pick after making this lunch), cheese dog cutout, edamame, sliced strawberries and a purple New Zealand melon. I'd never seen these before at my grocery store and it was completely tasteless - so much for trying something new!

A super speedy lunch. This just goes to show that even the fastest lunch can be perked up with a couple of cute little picks. DD thought these biting animals were hilarious. Pita/hummus, dried apricots, celery, cheese cubes and tomatoes.

Mother's Day lunch (though I'm not a blonde). More hummus/pita, tomatoes, cucumbers, dried cranberries, a Babybel cheese and applesauce.

Drumroll please ... silicone ice cream cups! I can't wait to bake some cupcakes in these cuties (from World Market). But in the meantime, we'll settle for Rice Krispies treats. Am I the only one obsessed with cups like these?

I didn't do any cute lunches, but I finally made DS the checkered apple & he loved it!  It was a big hit.

Great lunches - love the cone baking cup too.

  • I've done cute lunches maybe 4-5 times and now am giving up--every time I do, he won't eat the food because "he doesn't want to mess it up" (sheesh)  He loves it when his food looks like a train, but he doesn't want any part of the train to be missing!
  • Those are so cute! I recently started making DD's food in shapes of Mickey and horses. She does actually eat it, too. Where did you get the little picks and face pieces? I'd love to dress up her plate more.

I'm so glad you're making some fun lunches!

My picks are mostly from allthingsforsale.com.

However, all of the little details (eyes and lips on the cheese girl, for example) are all sprinkles. The lips are from a Valentine's sprinkle collection at my grocery store. I buy them whenever I see them - usually just at the grocery store or Target. The fun sprinkles are usually in an assortment of plain sprinkles. I also have a food-safe marker from Michael's. HTH!

Yes it helps thank you! Now, how do you spice up dinner? Lunch and breakfast are easy to create fun shapes but I'm drawing a big blank on dinner. My DD is pretty picky but I've found if I make it as a 2.5 year old see's the world, she'll eat it. Not all but even just a few bites.
  • I generally just do cute lunches. Only on holidays do I make breakfast or dinner fancy. I do serve DD's breakfast and dinner on cute, divided kids plates, though. She likes the variety and likes to have each food in a separate compartment. She is also in charge of distributing napkins at the table. I have plain and decorated napkins and she puts great thought into giving everyone a specific napkin.

My DD loves to assemble her own food. When she was younger, I'd usually include shredded cheese in her dinner, or something else she could sprinkle over her food. Now, I separate everything. If we're having spaghetti, I'll have the noodles in one compartment, sauce in another, meatball in another and Parmesan cheese, for example.

Thanks! I ordered some things from allthingsforsale.com. I can't wait till they get here so I can add more to her food.
