Looking at the 0-3 month board and all the vents about DHs forgetting or just not doing anything for Mother's Day made me realize that the fun of having low/no expectations is that you're never disappointed!
I agree. I barely even lurk on my month board anymore (12-24 months) because I hate seeing the petty DH vents. Maybe I'm just a bitter single mom, but some of their complaints/expectations are abusurd.
On a lighter note, my dad got me a gift for Mother's Day today from DS. He said he felt really bad that nobody would be getting me anything from DS, so he took it upon himself to do it. My dad can't even remember to get my mom a birthday card, so I was really touched.
I agree. My brother got me a present and a card and had DD scrible on it.
I really can't stand to read DH vents because it makes me feel bad that some of these ladies don't really even appreciate the fact that they have somebody there.
I was actually thinking that yesterday when it seemed like the majority of my married mommy friends were complaining about their DH's not doing anything special for them. It sounds rude but it definitely made it a little easier to not feel sorry for myself. I was relieved to not have to rely on someone and hope that they would make my day great!

My parents got me flowers and a card and my brother got me a beautiful little carved figure of a mom and a baby. I'm so lucky I got sweet and sentimental gifts for my first mother's day from my family, which is better than many husbands do anyway.

yup. most of my married friends have told me (and in my observations, i see that it is true) that they are single mommies too. it doesn't matter that they are married; they end up having to do everything themselves and get no help from their husbands and are always disappointed. it's sad, but i guess it makes me feel less sorry for myself.
Re: The upside to being a single mom...
I was thinking this before too! No let downs!!

Happy Mother's Day!
My mom did too!! And she got a card and let my DS attack it with a pen. I wasnt expecting her to do that but I was thankful!
