I'll be spending my day doing laundry, cleaning the house, possibly sanding our hallway. I've already done the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. Just like any other day.  *sigh*

Don't!  You only have yourself to blame if that's how you spend your day.  Have a great day!!

This!  screw the housework...take the kiddos to the park, go get a pedicure, do some online shopping, take a nap...do something YOU want to do and don't feel even remotely guilty about it!

  • Your to-do list for the day should consist of:

    1. Ordering the rings for yourself, and have them gift wrapped.

    2. Go out to lunch/coffee, alone

    3. Come home, don't make dinner, they'll figure it out.

    4. Do.not.do.anything.else.for.anyone.

Make your day enjoyable! When we were first married, DH was a complete turd about my b-day, because it was so close to Christmas. After 2 years of that crap, I took matters in my own hands. Took the day off work, hung out in SF for the day, etc. I made my days what I wanted, and it was enjoyable. It took DH a few years to come around, after watching me do what I wanted.

I know on one hand it is satisfying for it to fester, but ultimately you'll be happier letting it go. Give yourself one hour to fester, then gradually let it go.

  • I know how you feel.  If it makes you feel any better.  DH isn't even here!  Yeah he went to AC for a bachelor party this weekend!  I am FUMING!  Of course I am PMSing and the kids are being awful today

    There's no Mother's day fairy.

    Order the rings for yourself.

Stay at home mom to a house of boys: two amazing stepsons, 12 and 9, and our 4 year old.
  • I understand! DH did say Happy Mother's Day when I came home from work at 10am but thats it. I was thinking he would have DS color something for me while I was at work-nope. do what I am going to do...

Im going to have DS make something for me. Im going to go buy the kit from Walmart to make a stepping stone with DS. Do his handprint, and or footprint, and have DS make it look "pretty".

Mother's day is about you and your children I think..so just have a good time with them and make the best of it!

I also told DH that I am not making dinner, I want to go out-so thats what we are going to do! I want to look back on this day and know that it was a good day!...even if I had to make that happen Smile Keep your head up and turn your day around!

  • this post makes me upset -- Mother's Day has nothing to do with money. DH could have had your kid make a card, he could have made you breakfast and picked a damn flower. Brought you a cup of coffee. I'd be super pissed.
