lansinoh pump ? (suction issue)

i had a lansinoh double electric pump that i used for a couple months at most when ds was born...  it seemed like the suction on it went all wonky so i just stopped using it and used my hand pump whenever i needed to pump.

i'd like to give my double pump another try this time around but since i know it had suction issues last time i used it, should i try replacing the valves and see if that helps any?  i used all the valves that came with it originally ( i think i had 2 or 3 sets?) and didn't notice a difference, but i did rotate them somewhat....

is it possible that all of my valves were worn out and i just need new ones? or should i try replacing the diaphragms too?   or should i replace all the valves, diaphragms and tubing?

i don't really think it was the motor or anything since i could see that the diaphragm wasn't inflating/deflating properly, plus like i said i only used it for 2-3 months at most, 1-2x a day.

Re: lansinoh pump ? (suction issue)

  • I have that same pump - I wish when you first had issues you had contacted the manufacturer, while under warranty - they overnighted me ALL the replaceable pieces, since I had already replaced the white valves, and that resolved my issue.

The white valves can get worn out depending on how rough you are on them when washing, but I'd try replacing everyone in one go and see. Or get new white valves first and if not replace everything else. But I would for sure toss all the old valves and start totally fresh there. While it's unlikely that they are all worn out (I went through 3 sets in like 8 months of regular pumping), one bad valve is ruining the bunch potentially and figuring it out isn't worth it since you don't know if it's one, two, etc that you're eliminating.

  • yeah i know.. i remember contacting them by email and they wanted me to call them, and at the time i just couldn't handle that (as silly as that sounds lol).

guess i'll try replacing the valves first and see if that solves it.  like you said, if it's just one of the two i happen to be trying, i'll drive myself nuts trying to figure it out!  it's worth the 5 bucks just to start off w/a new pair!
