I'm 11 weeks and was diagnosed today as one of the "very few rare cases" of the PUPPs rash in the 1st/2nd trimester... normally this rash occurs in a handful of women later in the 3rd trimester for those in their first pregnancy. There are apparently very few reported cases of this occuring in the 1st/2nd tri's.
Well, I'm one of them! Lucky me, I might be lucky enough to have this until I deliver! If it will last until I deliver, this will be a LONG 29 weeks of having a very itchy and blotchy red belly!
Thankfully I have a cream to put on my rash and am allowed to take Claritin (daytime) and Benadryl (nighttime). Hopefully this will help a little bit.
And I have to be thankful because outside of being bothersome to me, it will not harm my baby or my health.
Wish me luck!
Re: Diagnosed with PUPPs rash at 11 weeks
Im glad that you were able to at least get answers.... I remember reading about this on the BMB. Hopefully it isnt too bothersome for you!

I got PUPPS around 28 weeks and it was the worst thing I have ever experienced. It started on my stretch marks and within a week had spread all the way to my ankles and onto my arms. It was horrible! I would not wish it on my worst enemy. I took Benadryl and used hydrocortisone cream all the time and it didn't help. I would wake up in the middle of the night and the only relief would be to light candles, turn on music and sit in a tub of cold water. I would actually fall asleep in the bathtub. After weeks and weeks of this (and calling the OB office every few days) I finally told them that I could not function, it hurt to wear clothes and something had to be done. They prescribed me a Medrol Dose Pack which are oral steroids and within a week it was completely gone. Next time, if it happens again, I will go straight to the oral steroids before it gets out of control. With all this being said, I hope that yours is just a mild case and goes away!!
i had it at 35 weeks with my 1st pregnancy. did they give you a steroid cream? that's the only thing that helped me. i hope it goes away b/c it will be a long summer with that. GL!

Same for me only my patches were isolated to the tops of my thighs. So uncomfortable - the cream, when used together, took the edge off ever so slightly. It totally resolved immediately after I delivered.
