So I was chatting with this mom of a little boy who turns out is just one week older than Charles. They're pretty much the exact same size, so we were comparing weight, checkups etc.
Then I heard her and her SO calling out to the boy... "Hey Easy!!" WTH?????
The kid's name is Ezekiel and they call him EASY.
I must add.. the age of the mother and her husband/boyfriend COMBINED would be less than my age and then some. Not that I'm being judgy, but I am.
Re: Overheard at the park...

Maybe she's thinking E.Z but she doesn't think about how it sounds?
My son goes by his initials, J.S. And that's what I have to say when people ask his name, I say, "he goes by his initials, J.S." Because until we figured out to say that, we'd spend ten minutes trying to convince them his name isn't Jazz or Chase.
If it weren't for her age, I'd also think maybe she's honoring Easy Reader from The Electric Company!
I thought about the initial thing, too. But I think you give them too much credit for thinking in that direction. The dad looked like a thug wannabe.. sideways cap and gangsta black on an 80 degree day. Yep.. I'm still judgy.
But I love the Easy Reader reference!

This made me doubly glad that I tend to lurk on this board, where the baby names are all so nice and NORMAL ! I rarely see a name here that makes me do a double-take.
Although I've been chastised by strangers who guessed my daughters' genders wrong (they were all bald when they were babies and toddlers), because they guessed based on me calling them the short forms of their names (Mo for Molly, Syd for Sydney, etc.). I'm just lazy sometimes ! So perhaps that's where she was getting Easy/Eze from - it's the first couple of syllables. I'm just as guilty, though my nicknames aren't nearly as...ummm...out there !
