I introduced cow's milk to G a couple weeks ago and am in the process of weaning now. I'm using the same "don't offer, don't refuse" strategy I used with K. Unfortunately for me, G doesn't seem to be bothered enough to ask. I haven't nursed on my left side in almost 48 hours and I am really getting uncomfortable. It also seems like I'm just in a funk today. I seem to vaguely remember some emotional side effects to weaning with K. Does that sound right? Anyway, thanks for letting me whine. Maybe now I can get over myself!
Re: Weaning sucks
ugh I have the opposite problem! I have been trying the "dont' offer, don't refuse" for months and cooper is ignoring me and just asking a lot!
I'm sorry you're sad... remember it's up to you (and G).. if you aren't ready to be done, you don't have to be done. You can keep one nursing session a day if you want. Or you can take a hot shower and hand express a little to take the edge off..
So sorry. I weaned W right at his b.day, I gave the "happy birthday, i want my body back" gift. He started freaking out when awake in the middle of the night, so for 3 nights I would nurse, I really dont think he got anything, but would go back to sleep. Hope you get your left side back, soon.
it's definitely an emotional thing! I'm pretty much down to once a day first thing in the morning I sometimes have to distract her in the afternoon when she signs milk- just lately she'll take her sippy w/ cows milk instead. GL! Do what you're comfortable with- don't rush if you don't want to!
