crib olympics

DS has been sleeping in his crib for the past two weeks now and just recently I noticed when going in to feed him he's perpendicular to the position he was when I put him down.  WTF?  It scares me a little- I know it's bound to happen, I get it, but part of me is wondering if I'm sleeping through some cries b/c he's really moving.  Anyone else notice this with their LO?  He's swaddled at night (arms free) so it concerns me a bit more in the event that the blanket loosens- perhaps it's my que to stop the swaddle.

Re: crib olympics

  • Our little one typically ends up further down the crib from where we placed him.  It's kind of funny, he's not perpendicular, but somehow wiggles down the crib. We never swaddled him, but use the Halo Sleep Sacks.  Maybe those would help to ease your concern about the blanket?

  • Ok so if I am looking at the crib like it is a clock this is how LO's night goes:

I put her to bed, with her head facing 9 o'clock between 8:30-9:30

I go in to check on her before I go to bed between 10 and 10:30, and her head is facing the 6 o'clock position

I go in to get her for her 3:30 AM feeding and her head is facing 12:00.

She definitely just moves in her sleep because there is no crying between the time I put her to sleep and the time I go to sleep for sure.

It really doesn't worry me because she has been doing it for weeks now, but I have had to turn off the breathing monitor for the angelcare because she shimmy's off the pad and I get false alarms.

  • my DS has done this twice in the last week. he flips 180 degrees and busts out of his swaddle completely!!  when i woke up and looked at him on our monitor, i had to blink a few times to make sure it wasnt my eyes playing tricks on me.  he's a busy man when he sleeps. :)
