Cloth Diapering

Question about hospital bag

I'm planning to CD at the hospital if possible. I know you're supposed to pack a hospital "bag" but to fit all our CDs, I'm going to need our rolling luggage right? Are the nurses going to give me the side-eye when I roll in or is that typical?

And is there anything extra I need to bring to CD in the hospital? Thanks!

Re: Question about hospital bag

  • Like a small roller bag?  That would seem not weird, but if you bring a rolling suitcase it would be strange.

    DD1 born 5/24/10.

    Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

    DD2 born 5/14/13.

    Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

    Expecting someone new 4/17/17.
  • Like a carry-on size rolling luggage. Big enough for a weekend trip.

  • We didn't cd in the hospital, but we used our small rolling suitcase.  It was all our mine, dh and baby's stuff.  I packed really light, though.  We also had our camera bag and laptop bag.

  • There isn't really a whole lot you need to take to the hospital.  I packed a huge bag and never used anything from it except my robe, toothbrush, and glasses. Personally, I would bring separate bags for you and DH and have him make 2 trips if need be.  My nurses jokingly talked about people with luggage:)

  • I have a big duffle bag, but we are an hour and 15 mins from the hospital, so it has clothes for me, DH, and my CDs, as well as her going home outfits.  It's the only duffle we have, but it worked perfectly.

  • I cloth diapered right from birth but I had DD at a birth center so we only stayed 6 hours after she was born.  What's the minimum stay?  24 hours?

They don't go a lot the first few days so you really don't need as many diapers as you think.  We only used 2 - 1 a few hours after she was born and 1 more right before we left.  I brought mine in the diaper bag but you could probably just bring them all in a big wetbag.

You can always have DH bring more if you need them.  Make sure you bring a big wetbag to put all the dirty ones in.
