Did any twin moms last 38 weeks?

My dr set a tentative c section date at 38 weeks. I cant even imagine I'd go 3 more weeks. Sometimes I feel like I'll burst any minute. I'm wondering if anyone else lasted this long?

Re: Did any twin moms last 38 weeks?

  • Yup, my girls were born at 38 weeks and 4 days.  And I have to tell you, the 'I'm going to burst" feeling actually gets worse.  But every day of being miserable and huge is more than made up for by having healthy full term babies.

  • I'm not sure if this is reassuring or terrifying... my induction is slated for 38w5d...  and more than feeling like I'm going to burst I feel like I'm going to burst into TEARS!  (pronounced both ways works...)

  • I know a couple of twin moms irl that last to 38 and 39 weeks.  They were both scheduled c-sections and probably could have gone longer.  Surprise
  • I had a scheduled C section at 38 weeks 2 days - and I think I could have probably made it to 40 weeks! ?It was totally worth it to wait, even though I was pretty uncomfortable those last 2 weeks.
  • I am 1 day away from 38 weeks.  I am being induced on Thursday.  At 34 weeks, I was told I was 3 1/2 cm, 80% effaced and -2 station.  My doctors didn't think I would make it until 35 weeks. Meanwhile, I am now only 4cm and no other change!

I have good days and bad.  On my bad days I just want to cry for an hour striaght because I am so uncomfortable.  However, I keep telling myself that each day (or hour, whatever it takes to get through!) they are in there, they are getting bigger and stronger.

  • I went 38 weeks 1 day - my doctor had no plans to induce until 39 1/2 weeks so I was so thankful when my water finally broke! And yes, the "I'm going to burst" feeling keeps getting worse and worse, but is worth it for healthy babies
  • There are a number of women on the board that made it to 38 weeks.  I distinctly remember hitting 35 weeks, because I was SURE that I couldn't last any longer and that I would go any day.

My mom's BF told me that pregnant women still have at lst 2 weeks after they hit that point before they give birth.  She was right.

Take it easy and hang in there!

  • I'm sure I would have lasted 40 but I had a scheduled c-section at 38w1d because they were both breech.
  • 37w6d to be exact but by the time i delivered i was exactly 38w and i had a failed induction and my water finally broke on its own.

  • I didn't last that long but I had a friend who did...

think of it this way,  your babies will be nice and big (and hopefully healthy) if they get to stay in for that long!  I'd have loved to stay pregnant longer and skip the horrible NICU time!

  • 38w6d here.  And my doctor told me I could have easily made 40 if not longer.  Most likely I wouldn't have gone into labor on my own, according to him.  Hang in there, everyday you carry is totally worth it for the sake of the babies.
  • I went 38 weeks. ?Who knows how long they would have stayed in if I didn't have my c-section scheduled. ?Oy. ?It definately gets uncomfortable and there were days where I just wanted to cry. ?Just take it week by week and remind yourself how good it is for the babies. ?Hang in there.
