Dumb ?: How do youknow if you have hard water?

To find out you can call the city water or I looked on my cities water website. Being that I am in Southern California we have hard water because of the way the water travels here through many rocks and minerals - or so that's what the city website says that.

you could go to a pool store and have them test your water or call the town

One easy way to roughly judge for yourself is how well the soap comes off in the shower or when you wash your hands or do dishes. If you have soft water, the soap lingers forever and it's very hard to rinse off. Hard water often causes the opposite problem, making it difficult to create a lather. Hard water might also smell like iron or in bad cases, have almost an orange tint to it because of the minerals in it.
