I'm glad someone else noticed the lazy sibsets. Pretty much naming the kids the same thing, changing only a letter or two. How original.
We had 4 kids in the family and Mom was always calling me my sister's name or what have you. I guess they figured if they called out "Jada" and they meant to say "Jaden" they could awkwardly stretch it out and insert the N at the end... Poor kids.
The SSA twin list is always a huge trainwreck. Unoriginal people who think that their twins are a cute little box-set and give them matchy names (or the same name minus a spelling or single letter). I honestly feel bad for those kids. The b/g combos are the worst - the top 10 all have the same first letter and many are almost identical names with just a slight difference in spelling and pronounciation.
I worked with twin boys named Shawn and Sean once.
My DD was a twin (we lost her twin during the pregnancy) and when we were thinking of names our first priority was that they would NOT be matchy and that each baby would be given their own solid name. We figured they would be known as "the twins" their whole life, we didn't need people tripping over their names and calling them the wrong thing all the time too.

Those are ridiculous! I really wanted the names for my girls that were not matchy-matchy, they ended up kind of matching because they both start with A, and their nicknames both end in a (The full name of one is Anne, we call her the Russian version: Anya, and the other one is Alyssa). But oh man Mia & Mya, that's just awful!!!!
Wow, these are awful!!! If people really feel the need to make their
twin's names match, just stick with keeping the 1st letter the same. It
doesn't need to go any further than that. Being a twin, I spent a lot of my life trying to find my own identity OUTSIDE of being "the twins"...or "one of the twins"....like PP said. Having practically the SAME name would have only made this struggle/annoyance even worse!!
Those were on the list last year, and I think I did vomit a little. Yuck.
There are a lot of terrible twin sets on that list.
