DH and I were not completely satisfied with our experience with the a/s which is our only planned u/s. We were without medical coverage for this pregnancy and didn't think it was financially possible. BUT I recently got coverage
) and now I'm really hoping for an elective u/s since we have freed up the money that was previously budgeted for our delivery and midwife bill.
There is a 3D/4D option in town that has different packages. The one I'm interested in is $185 and includes 20min which is recorded on a DVD and you get a CD of the pictures taken which they say could be 15-40 pictures.
You're allowed up to 8 people to accompany you. Who would you take with you? (my mom and my MIL are interested and they are local) Should all the grandparents come? This is the first grandchild on either side so I think the interest is there. Also, does this price seem reasonable? Is it worth the money?
I think DH also wants to confirm the gender because (I posted about this previously) the doctor didn't sound very certain when he said girl. A double check might make DH sleep easier.
Re: Considering an elective u/s
Wow, that is pretty expensive compared to elective 3D/4D u/s's in my area. Im in So Cal and for $199 I get two u/s sessions, one aroud 28 weeks and the other around 36 weeks. Each session is 30 minutes and recorded on a DVD set to music, CD with high-resolution still images that are suitable for printing, black and white thermal 4 x 4 pictures, color 4 x 6 pictures, gender determination and a gift certificate valued at $400 for two photo sessions with a local photographer. One photo session is around 35 weeks pregnant and the other is just after the baby is born (within the first week).
For a gender determination only it's $50 and about 20 minutes.

Wow that is pretty pricy I am also in So Cal and there are some really reasonable packages... I actually had an elective 2D just to find out the sex and it was only $25.00.. and then I will get a discount off a 3D/4D when I am over 26 weeks.
I personally see nothing wrong with it... and if thats the prices in your area then I say go for it!!

With DD she didn't let us see her parts when I had my a/s so I had to pay for an elective. I brought with me my parents and DDs grandmother. It was really fun.
This time I plan on getting the 4D and inviting DHs family to come look at LO. My MIL is really excited about it. She's never heard of the 4D ultrasounds.
