Bedrest?

Sorry, I have a lot of questions swirling around in my head today.  I have an appt on Friday (1st since finding out twins) so I am trying to think of different things to ask.

Did you have to go onto bedrest with your twins?  If you did, when and what was the reason?

Re: Bedrest?

  • I've been on bedrest since 30 weeks. I had been having some contractions. The dr told me to stop working and stay off my feet from that point on.
  • Totally understandable about all the questions. :-)  I went on bedrest at 23w6d and stayed on strict bedrest until I delivered at 32w6d.  I had a shortened cervix.  But I know there are a lot of other MoMs here who made it without needing any bedrest, too.

  • I went on bedrest at 23 weeks with pre term labor and a shortened cervix. I was in the hospital for 5 days and then sent home with a t-pump in my leg on bedrest. I delivered at 25 weeks.
  • I was hospitalized at 24 weeks (viable age of babies) due to the fact they were monoamniotic. If they were just identical, I wouldn't have been hospitalized/bedrest at all (or at least to the point they were born). I had no problems with the actual pregnancy - just had to be monitored because the twins had a rare dangerous condition. I never went into preterm labor or anything.
  • Home bedrest, self imposed at 27 weeks for contractions, infection and positive ffn.  Hospital bedrest at 29w3d since my cervix was 2-3cm dilated and 80% effaced.  I delivered at 30w6d.  A twin mom friend of mine went to 38 weeks with no bedrest.  For every respones you get here, there is probably another one or more who didn't have bedrest.
  • I was put on bedrest at 26 weeks for preterm labor. ?Took Procardia for contractions until 36 weeks and then I stopped taking it and went into labor on my own.
  • I was on bedrest from 22 wks until I delivered (37wks).  It was modified so basically, I had to stay home and put my feet up when I wasn't doing something essential.

I was contracting regularly and although it didn't change my cervix, they were really trying to avoid pre-term labor.

  • i was on bed rest from 30-36 wks b/c my cervix opened.  i have remained 1 cm since 30 weeks, i am now 37.
  • I went on bedrest at 26 weeks for contractions/shortening cervix.  I was at home on strict bedrest until I was 33 weeks, at which point I went on hospital bedrest with mag sulfate.  I delivered at exactly 34 weeks.
