Trouble TTC

Birth Control Question

So I have to go back on Birth Control. Huge No. I keep asking myself how I got back here...ha ha

Before DH and I started TTC- I was on nuvaring and DH kind of hated it. He always said he could feel it when we had sex. So I'm hunting for other options.

So when you were on Birth Control- what did you take? Did you like it? Any odd side effects??

Re: Birth Control Question

  • I was on the pill -- Yaz. I liked it -- no side effects, great skin, and I could tell you down to the hour when I would get my period.

Sorry you have to go back on birth control though :(

  • I was on Aviane before TTC and I liked it. My RE recently put me on Yaz while I was on a break and I didn't like it AT ALL. I was incredibly moody and my skin was awful which surprised me because I thought Yaz was supposed to improve oil/acne.

It's been long enough that I don't remember what brand but it was a "low estrogen" pill since I'm **older**, they switched me to it when I turned 30 Embarrassed

I liked it because I didn't notice any side effects (aside from gaining two pounds which always seemed to happen when I went on a new pill) and like PP I knew when AF was coming *Tuesday about 10am* kind of timing.

  • I had breakthrough bleeding issues on low dose pills when I was on b/c, so I ended up on Ortho Tri-Cyclen which really did the trick for me. I gained a few pounds on it, but it kept my skin clear, and I really didn't have any side effects. GL! I hope you can find one that you like that works for you!

You can take out the nuvaring during sex and put it back in later.  Maybe this would be an option for you?

I took Loestrin 21 FE.  It is the only form of hormonal birth control that I have tried that didn't cause me lots of cramping, bloating and similar issues.  I started it after having tried a bunch of other kinds.  I was on it for several years.

This is what I was on as well and had the same experience as katib.  I agree, being  back on hormones is a huge No.  I really wish things could be a lot easier than they are for you.

I don't remember the name, but I took the pill, and it wasn't any of the ones that people have already mentioned.  My boobs got ginormous and I was EXTREMELY moody.  DH even said the other day that I was moodier on BCP than I was during my treatment cycles.  I felt like I ate a bunch more too, and I could tell that I was starting to gain a little weight.

  • I had an IUD. I loved it. Never had to remember when to take a pill and the hormones in the mirena weren't bad at all. I would get it again if I needed it.  What about the non hormone IUD?

  • I was on whatever pill was generic and cost $5. I gained some weight that never really went away while I was on it and would get sick to my stomach if I took it in the morning. That's about it though.

    Hope time flies Kath!
