Re: The movie inception?

  • He's stuck in the dream. the whole movie was a "dream."
  • I didn't get that entire movie. I felt dumb after I watched it :/

  • So did he finally get out of the dream?

No.  The whole thing was set up as the dream within a dream for him.

    exactly.

I didn't like the movie purely based on the ending. If it had been a "happy ending" I would have liked it much better. also, that movie required waaaay too much thinking. LOL

I watched Tooth Fairy (with the Rock) the other night, I liked it!!

  • I think he did get out.  If you go on imdb, they say he wears a wedding ring in the dream scenes and doesn't when he's awake.  During the last scene when he's reunited with his kids and sees their faces, he's not wearing a wedding ring.

interesting! I still think its a kinda stupid movie. It shouldn't be this hard to "get" a movie :)
  • I was very confused by it-- someone I know gave me this breakdown that the producer of the movie approved.  He wasn't in a dream the WHOLE movie, but at the end essentitally you'll never know because the totum he uses keeps spinning BUT his kids are older now (something you wouldn't expect in a dream), so you just don't know, but you do know that he no longer cares (because he leaves the totum on the table and goes to his kids).  It was definitely too much thinking for me...these days when I get to watch movies, I want to laugh, not think LOL.
  • Love, love, love this movie. The ending is supposed to be ambiguous - you don't see if his token falls or not so it is up to you to decide if you think he is actually in a dream or not. Some things point to it being dream (kids in basically the same clothes, etc), other things point to it being real life. Christopher Nolan is such great director -I love all his movies. I saw this right when it opened in a sold out theatre, and the entire audience's reaction to the ending was priceless.

  • I got about 20 minutes into this movie and turned it off. I thought that it was just awful. Sorry, I'm no help with the ending! LOL

Also, at the end the totem wobbles and it doesn't in the rest of the dream sequences.

  • See I took it as he did get out b/c the ring starts to wobble like its going to drop right before the screen goes black, DH thought he was still stuck in the dream. I liked the movie either way!

  • I LOVE this movie!

Honestly, movie's that make me think are too few and far between anymore. They're all so predictable, it's not even fun to watch. I find it pretty rare to for one to get me like this anymore (and it usually involves Leo!).

We redboxed, but I bet seeing it in a full theater was awesome!

I agree that you're left not knowing if it's a dream or not since it cuts out before you can see if the ring actually falls. Love Christopher Nolan, LOVE Leo.

Actually, the whole point to the end is that you don't really know for sure whether the end scene is reality or not.  Brilliant movie.

That's how I interpreted it too. Also, in the end he's with his kids. It's no longer a concern whether he's in reality or still dreaming. He's happy where he is and that's all that matters.

Yes, I agree.  I thought it was amazing.  I love Christopher Nolan.  I love films that make you think and carry a meaning.  You don't get too many of those any more, which is sad.
