Washington Babies

pregnant in heels

This show makes me laugh.  But also I think that Rosie Pope is a little psycho sometimes... she flips out when people haven't baby proofed before the kid comes?  Seriously?  Your kid can't even move for MONTHS.  It's OK to not have outlet covers when you bring your baby home from the hospital.

But also, some of these moms are insane.  Like why did these rocker idiots call her if they didn't want to get ready for a baby?   And why did this fancy pants lady with a team of 35 people call her to help her throw a shower?

  • LOVE this show! And,yeah, she's crazy about being over-prepared. I just watched the one where she was appauled that the woman had her dog's pee pad on the floor. Why does that matter with an infant?? But, the women/couples are NUTS. Who does nothing to get ready for a baby and then calls someone a few weeks before giving birth??

  • With the Rocker couple, I just didn't understand why they waited so long and had purchased absolutely NOTHING!  Not even a package of diapers!  But they obviously called her because they wanted help (even if the Dad was reluctant), she really didn't need to be such a b!tch about it.  I think the Dad was more put off by her attitude then her suggestions.

And they way she talks annoys me.  I don't know what her impediment is but it's like nails on a chalkboard.

  • I LOVE this show!  I agree that Rosie can be over the top, but these women are so ridiculous.  Also, am I the only one who thinks most of their husbands (until the rocker last night) are definitely on the feminine side?
  • With some of the people that have been on the show I've wondered why they even got pregnant? They seem like they don't even want children. One couple in particular an episode or two ago was bad. They were so upset about what they had to "give up" for their baby (ie their house being perfectly clean, free time, etc). Did you not consider that before getting pregnant? Oy!

This! Although I have only watched the first episode. It was hard for me to watch for several reasons.

  • I'm not the biggest fan of the show, but I seem to keep watching it.  The rocker couple didn't call her.  The wife is friends with Rosie's assistant and she had asked Rosie to please help them b/c they were so not ready.  But, still, how do you get to 31 weeks and have nothing?

Yes!  It's like a British accent, plus some kind of lisp or something.

  • I'm just finishing the latest episode now....

I have to agree that it's really silly for Rosie to jump all over these parents for not having the baby-proofing done.  We didn't do anything at all until Lila started crawling.  And quite honestly, we still haven't done most of what we're "supposed" to.  Of course, at this point we don't really need to anymore.

I'm just so baffled by these people.  How do you get almost all the way through a pregnancy without really realizing that your life is going to change??  Such denial!

  • I've watched like five hours of this show in the last couple days. Some of the people are ridiculously clueless.

As much as Rosie can be a little over the top, I give her some serious props for working with pregnant/new mothers on a daily basis when she's have fertility troubles. That would be tough!

  • I just think it's funny that half of the women think they don't need to know anything because the nanny will do everything... what's the point of having a chlid then??? :) It's also really fun to watch with DH, he realizes that I'm such a wonderful wife and pregnant woman! :) He gets super worked up about how the rich women act when watching it with me... it's funny.

My sister.   She had her baby at 37 weeks and my mom came and found out that my sister had done pretty much nothing.  The nursery was still full of her DH's crap.  She hadn't bought bedding for the crib.  They weren't ready AT ALL.

I totally agree! Several times as she's working with couples I've had this exact same thought!

    isn't it just an accent?

  • I also think it's amazing that she can keep her cool in the face of such crazy mom-zillas...  Some of these women are so used to being catered to and never told no, that somehow she's able to tell them what they need to do but without rolling her eyes at them.

And to do this while dealing with IVF and a loss... that's tough.

and also, I think a lot of people are in serious denial about how their lives will change when they have babies.  I really think my sister was one of them.  I remember when she said how she was ready to get the baby on a "schedule" when she was about a week old.  I just laughed at her.

NO!!!  Ohmygosh, it's awful.  Like Mrs_H said it's kind of an accent, with a lisp too.  But it's not really a lisp, it's just some kind of weird...gah!  I don't even know how to describe it, but DH noticed it too!
