Re: New here! bedtime ?

  • I think 8pm is the best bedtime there is. My DS has had that bedtime since the day he came home from the hosptial. He will be 4 in Aug. My DD who is almost 11 months goes to bed at that time too. It's nice to get them down at 8 because I still have energy to sometimes get things done. It's what works for you and when he starts school (if not already) it won't be a fight to get him down at a reasonable hour so he's well rested.

  • We have an 8pm bedtime for DD and have for as long as I can remember.  Lately though she's staying up until 9ish reading and playing in her room until she conks out.  I like 8pm because that give me time to get my grad school work done and some things done around the house.  She gets up around 9am.

  • We are 8:30 or 9 depending how we are going and how the kids are but my kids sleep till 8 or 8:30 the next morning.  IMO it doesn't matter when you put your children to bed as long as they are getting enough hours and the sleep is quality.

  • 8pm is the universal bed time goal to reach every day in this house, even on weekends. I don't think it's too early at all. We get up at 7AM for school so, 8pm is a good starting point. Because, you know the kids aren't going to go to sleep right at 8 but more likely 8:30-9:00.

  • DS goes to sleep at 8pm and wakes up at 7:30am.

If he were to nap during the day he would stay up until 11pm.

It's 9 pm here.  DS1 still takes naps most days and usually wakes up around 7 or 7:30 am.  On school mornings he has to get up around 7:20 am.

8pm is definitely too early for us! DD1 goes to bed @ 10ish. It's always been pretty late, but she's a night owl. And she used to sleep 10pm-9 or 10am...it was heaven. The baby tends to wake her earlier now, but she sleeps in a lot too. I don't want to be up at 7am on any day, and with my work schedule I have to be up early (7-7:30am) just 3 days a week. The other days we sleep in because I go in later (come home after 8pm).
