Hello Everyone! I had my daughter 5 years ago via C-section. I was two weeks late, induced with pitocin, 24 hours in labor and only dilated to 6 cm. I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation with a successful VBAC. I had a terrifying experience with my c-section and was also hospitalized with an uterine infection a week after delivery. Please let me know what I can do to increase my chances for a VBAC. Thank you.
Re: What are my chances?
Do you know what position your DD was in?
Things I did to increase my chances: hire a doula, find a truly VBAC supportive doctor who was going to be at my delivery, educate myself about VBACs and labor in general to prepare, saw a chiropractor who used the Webster technique to make sure my pelvis was correctly aligned so baby could get in the best position, took a prenatal yoga class and did a few things (crawling, believe it or not) that my doula suggested to help encourage baby to be in an ideal position.
I don't remember the statistics, but I believe over 70% of attempted VBACs are successful (I just did a quick search and one place said 80% - I can't vouch for the accuracy), which is fabulous, considering the c/s rate is nearly 33%.
