New to this board, stretching advise?

For most of my life i was a cheerleader ( age 5-18) and i Love to strech and stay flexable, it seems some of my stretches my belly gets in the way lol. Anyone have good recommendations on stretching?

  • Hey There!

I was a cheerleader too! From 9-18, so I hear you on keeping your body fit and limber.  During pregnancy there will be some things that you won't be able to do, and some of your favorite stretches may be included in that.  And remember, during pregnancy your joints are more limber (to allow your body to stretch and grow with your belly) so there's a greater chance for injury while stretching during pregnancy.

I'd recommend getting a great pregnancy yoga video.  I personally used Yoga Booty Ballet Baby on the Way

Make sure you talk with your Dr first.

    Congrats!

  • I second the yoga recommendation.  I was not a yoga person before pregnancy but I think the stretching that I do in class and that I've incorporated into my daily post-workout stretching have helped me avoid any back issues that I experienced before getting pregnant.  I plan to continue with the yoga post pregnancy b/c I like the relaxation and stretching aspect so much.

  • I'm not sure on doing this prego, just want to say that up front!  But I stretch by hanging from bars.  Like one of these: https://www.snewsnet.com/cgi-bin/snews/01539.html.

It feels great, and doesn't have the impact of stretching on the ground.
