XP: anniversary party ideas?

I am starting to plan a 25th surprise anniversary party for my sister (it's in 2 years). If you have ever been to a anniversary party was there anything that was really cool? Was it just dancing & a dj to people could socialize as much as they wanted?

Also, what type of food was served? We are thinking of more finger foods (meatballs, sandwiches, etc) instead of an actual dinner because we really can't afford to pay a whole lot of money for everyone to have dinner, but we still would like it to be nice.

  • Fun!  I think it is nice to try to sort of recreate the wedding cake and/or bouquet (for a centerpiece).

You don't have to have a dj if you can find someone with nice speakers that can make a fun playlist.

  • I went to a 40th anniversary party that was movie themed.  They rented out a small movie theatre.  In the lobby they had small cocktail tables, where they served finger style food.  They had a posters made up from movies but incorporated their family (The Fockers, but it was a picture of them and their kids).  Then after appetizers were served for awhile everyone went into the theatre where they had a movie.  The movie was old pictures and movie footage of them, theor kids and most of the friends and family that was at the party.  They also had interviewed freinds and family which they incorporated into the movie.

It was fun and such a great idea.  Expensive, I am sure.  But I thought the movie was a cute idea.

  • These are fun to use as a decorations -  I had 10 of them made for my friend's 30th and framed them around the room. https://www.fakemagazines.com/
