Baby Showers

Thank You Cards

I feel so silly writing this post, but I'm really curious what everyone thinks. I'm looking to order my baby shower thank you cards. My mom got really lovely invites, but they do not have a coordinating thank you.

What do you feel is most appropriate/what would you get? Baby-themed? Personalized stationary?  Chic thank you (but no baby or personalization)? And if it's personalized (on the front)... would you put mom & dad's names or the baby's?

Thanks ladies! :)

(The other option is designing them myself -I'm an artist- but I'm not super crazy about the idea, so it's a 'last resort' for now.)

Re: Thank You Cards

  • I just used the cards I had at hand.  It wasn't baby-related.

  • Pick whatever one you like.  What is important is what is written inside.

  • I think you're overthinking it.  I hardly ever acknowledge the actual design of the card with more than a "hm, that's cute" before I open it to read the inside.  That is what's more important to me- feeling like my gift and attendance were genuinely appreciated with a heartfelt sentiment rather than two generic sentences.
  • FWIW, it doesn't matter what you choose.  The message you write is the most important thing.

That being said, I like the idea of a chic thank you, but maybe with some pink or blue in the stationary.

This. I actually can't believe that you asked this question.

  • As PP have basically said, "It's what's on the inside that counts." :)

But, if you want an excuse to pick up "cute" stationery, this is the time to do it. I didn't want to use up all my previously ordered personalized stationery, and this was an excuse to send something different than my normal thank you's/occasional correspondence. My sister is a graphic designer and did the invitations and stationery so they coordinated.

Well I did say I felt silly asking it. :P

I guess as a designer I care a lot more about that kinda thing than anyone else. Just curious if other people had preferences... now I know.

  • I agree with the others. It is the cards words of thank you that are expressed inside that count.

With that, I totally understand where you are coming from. I chose an adorable pink scalloped Hallmark card with a baby buggy on the front to send out. My shower did not really have a "theme".

  • I just bought several packs from Target..blue with baby feet on them. I never really notice what thank you cards look like, so feel like others won't notice either.
