Trouble TTC

Would your RE let you take VERY expired Gonal-F?

Let's say it was free to you but expired 18ish months prior to use?  Also, if you normally ovulate on your own, will Gonal-F allow your body to ovulate WITHOUT a trigger, or is a trigger necessary for it to work?  (Trying to figure out how to save $ were I to try one more round with an RE. Oh, and the Gonal-F would be due to VERY low AMH - ovarian reserve.)

My RE wouldn't let me use any drugs that out of date.  That is very old and there is no telling how degraded that could be.  I don't think it is safe and I would not use it.

Gonal-F and HCG do two very different things.  Gonal-F is intended to help you mature more than one follicle.  If you mature multiple follicles, you risk not ovulating more than one (and in some cases may not ovulate even one) without a trigger.  HCG trigger is intended to cause you to release multiple eggs.  If you are going to the expense of taking Gonal-F, it makes since to spend the extra money to do a trigger.

Are you KU right now?  If so, I'm not sure why you are asking this question.  You just posted on the breastfeeding board that you are KU and 2 months ago you posted on the 2nd Tri board.  I get it that you want another baby after this one but you need to focus on the baby your preggo with right now.

ETA:  Sorry to be rude but you're asking this question of a bunch of ladies that would be over the moon to be pregnant with their first.

My guess is she's wondering for the next round.  Get through this pregnancy first ... and no, I wouldn't use any med that's 18 months expired.  Also, the trigger isn't very expensive (mine was like $70 and that was for a IVF cycle).
