We had our anatomy ultrasound today, and the tech said my placenta is anterior. Our midwife had suspected this already, and I have felt less movement this time as compared to last, so it wasn't really a surprise. I am now doing a little reading and I found that anterior placentas can be associated with OP babies. The tech also wasn't able to tell if the placenta was laying over my scar, but did say that it wasn't covering the birth canal...so I suppose good news there? I'm not sure why she couldn't comment on the scar issue -- she even went to ask one of the radiologists and he said he couldn't say either. I have emailed my midwife because I have a month to go until my next appt and I'm curious to hear what she thinks.
Wondering if anyone has had an anterior placenta with their VBAC and if/how it affected things? I'm wondering if I need to start looking into Webster, spinningbabies, etc now instead of later?
Re: Anterior Placenta and VBAC
That is great info, thanks! I got an email back from my midwife last night saying that the actual report they sent her yesterday says they couldn't even locate my scar. She said that was good news and meant that I had healed well. It is encouraging to know your anterior placenta didn't interfere with your VBAC!
I have an anterior placenta too. The tech made it sound like she could locate my scar and it was on top of it... but my midwife didn't say anything at my appt. I'll probably probe a little further at my next appt.
I've also been a little more worried about a posterior baby. But I'll probably be doing some spinning babies tricks towards the end anyway.
Occiput posterior, a.k.a. sunny-side up.
