I called my Dr.'s office right away when they opened at 9am and the nurse cancelled my appointment with her @10am for my basic prenatal appointment (whatever you call it). She was more concerned about my ultrasound. The bleeding started around 8:30 am and went from like brownish discharge to red and kinda alot but after putting a pad on nothing. It stopped! Occasionally now I might get a brown tinge when I wipe but sometimes nothing at all.
Went in @ 11:30am for ultrasound. I pretty much had it in my head this pregnancy was over. Last time in the ER when I bled and started to m/c there was nothing on the ultrasound. What we did see today was a gestational sac and a fetal pole. I knew I was early just 5 weeks and I was pretty much on track with what I thought. The tech said I was just very early yet, maybe just 5 weeks. Our tech didn't say much but she did say that everything was where it should be. She couldn't get a heartbeat but said that she didn't expect to at this point too early yet. No signs of anything that could have caused the bleeding. I wonder if I hadn't told her about the bleeding if she would have explained more but instead was more reserved. I'm waiting for my Dr. to call back once they get the ultrasound results. They haven't ordered labs at this point so I don't know what my betas are if they going up or down. I did get lectured by the tech and DH to stay off the internet as far as googling information. I did admit I was naughty in that aspect.
I'm just really scared at this point and now I'm more nervous after seeing the ultrasound more so than before I had it. I don't know what this means from this point.
The tech told me she would have printed a picture but she said there just isn't much right now to see at this point and that's why she did not.
What is your take on this situation . . . anyone else go through this?
No more bleeding and I haven't had ANY cramping at all.
Re: Update to horrible day . . . spotting . . . back from ultrasound
I was just coming to see if you'd updated. As I mentioned in the other post, I got my BFP (same day as you) & started spotting on Saturday. It stopped just a few days after I went to the doctor & have had no more since. My betas tripled from the first to the second draw & all is well.
And most techs cannot tell you anything so don't let her non-response worry you at all!
Hang in there!!!
((Hugs))
Spotting is so difficult, especially this early in pg when there really isn't much to see on the u/s. Try not to focus on the tech not giving you pictures because she's right, there's not much to look at.
Hopefully your dr receives the report soon and calls you right away.
Lost Lilah (Audra's twin) at 26 weeks. Cause unknown. Forever in our hearts
So sorry you're going through that ((((hugs))))
I hope that you get some answers very soon!
I'm so sorry you're going through this. It is so frightening! I spotted once a week from weeks 5-10 and every single time, I thought it was over. I will keep you in my prayers.
Update from doctors office . . . Dr. said my HCG levels look good but I am getting them checked again on Thursday along with my Progesterone levels. Scheduled an ultrasound for next Tuesday at 2:15 at the office.
I guess the Dr. said that I was from what he estimated to be 5weeks 2 days and that he identified a gestational sac but that was all he saw. Now, after all he is the doctor but the tech said she saw what she thought might be a fetal pole and I saw her also outline something/measuring and also label as yolk sac but . . . Dr. says he saw only gestational sac. I saw this gray little like line inside the sac so I don't know. So . . . I guess when Thursday gets here we'll know more when I see my levels and hopefully next Tuesday as well. FX for Thursday.
I totally understand your anxiety and really hope that all continues to go well. Stinks that this is suppose to be one of the most exciting times of our lives, but I am finding it to be such an anxious time, esp. if you have had a loss. As everyone keeps saying, we've gotta take it one day at a time. My DH also tells me to stay off the internet, remember we can be our own worst enemies! Good Luck, we will get through this!
DH and I had sex on Sunday and on Saturday so maybe that's the cause of the bleeding. I don't know. I'm just thankful it has stopped at this point. I'm thankful my breasts are still sore and I will take anyother pregnancy symptom that wants to come this way at this point and I will be thankful for that too!
Next appointment is Tuesday for another ultrasound.
This, pretty much almost completely. My spotting was more weeks 5-6 and then again around 9-11 before my big bleed at 12 weeks. The only time they found a reason for the spotting/bleeding was after the big one.
Hang in there. I think it's a good thing that you already have a fetal pole.
((Hugs)) I'm glad you got some more info for the doctor and will be checked again on Thursday. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. Spotting is always scary. GL at your u/s on Tues!

I had spotting off & on throughout the 1st Tri. I think the dates of it are shown in my chart. I know I had some red/brown (enough to give me a heart attack both times) at both 4 and 6 weeks. The 4 weeker I treated as implantation bleeding, the 6 week one...I did an ER trip. In both cases, and in subsequent cases, it was very short lived (gone in a few hours)...a lot like what you described.
Eventually I figured out that I had a sensitive cervix. Any 'disturbance' down there (sex, vag u/s, even a BM) would lead to spotting. You may want to think back if you'd had any disturbances in that dept in the last couple days. I never once had cramping or clotting. There was one instance, about 24 hrs post intercourse, where I had fire engine red spotting that scared the sh*t out of me. Again, it went away quickly.
I completely understand where you're at in terms of worry. Its hard to not know the cause and have our history. Take comfort though in that they couldn't find a source for the bleeding by where they found the baby.
A bit of good news~my spotting seems to have cleared up as I left 1st Tri. I think something about the hormones my body was making before the placenta took over exasterbated the irritable cervix.

Thank You so much to everyone who has responded and Thanks for all of your T & P's and for sharing your personal experiences. Your words have helped me get through this day so much. I'm finally calmed down and relaxed at this point and enjoying those tiny little twinges/mild pains in my groin areas that they say are round ligament pains and the uterus stretching. Funny how a week or so ago those same pains freaked me out and now I find them comforting. After coming down from the earlier adrenaline rush and fear from this morning/afternoon I am now happy with what I did see in my ultrasound and now I'm gonna put my feet up, drink lots of high quality h20 and watch a movie!
Thanks again for all of your support!
