The sketchers are the only name I can think of right now, but I know there are other brands that are similar? I've been thinking about getting some, but are they worth it? If so, which brand should I look into?
TIA!

I got the Reebok Easy Tone last year and LOVE them. I DEFINITELY feel a difference when I walk and most of the cellulite on the back of my thighs is gone.
I don't know, I think they work a little bit. I can feel it in my upper legs. You don't really get the full effect unless your taking long strides and walk a good distance. Their a little heavier then a regular sneaker so it'll give you that extra weight going up steps. They do have a thicker sole so becareful tripping/falling. I bought mine at Kohl's for like $70-$80.

They don't really do anything and can actually change your stride and make you more unsteady on your feet/prone to injury.
Ditto. They are designed to throw you off balance and will make you prone to injury.
I was at the shoe store, getting DH some shoes, and the cashier said her mom broke her ankle wearing a pair. I don't have any personal experience though.
I have Skecher's Tone-Ups Fitness. I had to take about an hour to get used to walking in them, but I find them super comfortable. I don't believe they are "toning" anything.

If you are going to get any- get these. At least they still look like a regular tennis shoe and not like an old lady orthopedic shoe. sorry, but that sketchers are ugly!
Our Journey from two to three!

5/17/2011 Adoption final- we are finally a forever family!
I have Shape Ups, I have had them for about a year (believe i got them for Mothers Day last year) and the reports say you will loose 3% more by using them for everyday wear.... I've lost 52lbs in the last year from baby, diet and exercise. I talked with my FIL who has a Phd in sports psychology and primarly works in Kineisiology (spelling) which is all about movement of the body and what he told me, the way these are designed to work is to keep your foot off blanance as if your standing on a exercise ball constantly so your body is adjusting and moving to balance itself. He said the way they are designed they won't zap fat from the body but they should work the way they promote it to work. I wear them 90% of the time and I don't have any trouble walking.
I don't know if they've done anything for my weight/tone, but I have Fibromyalgia and just being on my feet for longer than 20 min can REALLY start to cause me pain. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Sketchers Shape Ups, I can feel the support and the extra padding. I live in them. They have done wonders for my pain even if they haven't done anything for my body, they are above and beyond the most comfy shoes ever.
As a RN in a hospital setting I am constantly on my feet. I do think they are very comfortable and I have had no problems with balance. One of the physical therapists at work told me that these shoes, specifically Sketchers Shape Ups are not really good for your legs. Apparently they shorten your calf muscle making it more prone to muscle tearing. Like I said, I do love them. I did notice a difference in the muscle definition in my legs when I did walk in them correctly. I wont be giving them up anytime soon.. Bonus: They do add almost 2 inches to your height!!

I bought them for the comfort and the color.
