So when does the engorgement go away?

I hate waking up to being engorged!!

LO is 11 weeks old and he nurses at night before he goes down for the night, on both sides so that I don't have to pump.  So thats around 9pm. He's been waking at 430-530am, nurses 1 side, and back to sleep. So when I wake up around 630/7, the side he didn't nurse on is so engorged and hard!

I know your body is supposed to adjust, but I feel like its taking forever!

And its not like I'm pumping too much, b/c I only pump in the mornings, usually after he nurses again, b/c I can feel that he doesn't empty me.

  • I think it's always going to happen if you don't nurse one side (or both) for an extended period of time. I would kinda force the 2nd side in the morning...but if he doesnt take it, and it's super uncomfy you should pump after the 5am feeding on the side he doesn't eat from.  my LO is STTN now and if she doesnt eat super well at 10:30 before bed, I wake up hurting!!
