My little one is just over a month. I've seen small smiles while she sleeps. Although, now that I think about it, it's not all that often. Maybe once a day. Maybe.
There have been two times where I feel like she actually smiled at me. Once was on Easter and other people had been holding her. Then I got her back and she had a big grin. Another time she was in her stroller and I leaned towards her to put her pacifier in her mouth and I saw a little smile.
But those are the only two. When I try to make her smile - she looks at me like I'm crazy. I mean, I can tell she's more alert and will stare at me. She just is very serious right now.
She makes noises too. Like grunts and maybe coos. Mostly when she's eating though or right after eating. But not talking coos.
I'm not that worried about it because I wasn't expecting it until closer to 6 weeks - 8 weeks. But the doctor asked today and it just got me anxious.
Does it really just happen over night? When did your lo start to actually interacting? I'm so looking forward to her being more social.
Re: socializing
I was wondering the same thing. Then last Thursday she smiled at my boss at work when I stopped by. Then began to acknowledge her grandparents. By Saturday she was making laughing noises.

definitely happened overnight somewhere between the 6 and 7 week mark for us
and when you do start getting them, she could skip a day here and there. try this. first thing in the morning, really talk to her with all the goo goos and baby talk. smile a lot yourself. at this age, right when they first wake up is the ideal time for big smiles. don't worry mama, they'll come! i always worried too!
