Dear First Year Molars...

eff you.

Also, eff you Orajel for not being the amazing, life-saving product I thought you were.  I can't believe you deceived me like that. I thought you were good people Orajel.  Now, we just have motin and ice water.

Signed,

Exhausted mommy who wants her sweet, happy baby girl back.

Re: Dear First Year Molars...

  • I know the feeling but with 2year molars! Check out Super Supplements. They gave some great advice for some awesome homeopathic remedies (ie teething tab alternatives since the good ones got recalled!) They gave us some great ideas! I know some people have good luck with amber too, but I dont know if a 1 year old would really keep a bracelet on...

Oooh, that is a great idea.  I will check out Sup. Supplements!  Lulu would probably rip off an amber necklace or bracelet unfortunately.

  • Cooper's 1 year molars took FOREVER to come in.  I swear they started in December and just finished up last month.  Motrin and Tylenol worked best for us.   Orajel didnt' help at all - I tried it on my own gums and it wore off in about 30 seconds.   If God were smart, he would have made babies come with teeth so we could all get some sleep.

We also did Tylenol and Motrin. Max wouldn't let us get anywhere near him with the Orajel.

A friend of mine sent me this and it seems to do the trick:

  • Molars suck.  Jillian is a late teether, so hers didn't arrive until 18 months.  I found the first one popping through the day after we brought Hayden home from the hospital.  Newborns and teething toddlers are a bad combo for sleep.

Jillian's 2 year molars haven't made an appearance yet, but Hayden is getting her top center teeth.  With any luck I'm going to have 2 teething toddlers.

Fwiw, Ben's two year molars came in without anyone noticing. :) maybe being a year older helps?

  • I know what you mean! Ella woke up 6 times one night last week and that's the only thing I think it could be from! All 4 molars finally came through, but it took forever!!!! Probably 2-3 months. She was cranky off and on so I hope L starts feeling better soon! I found that if I got a washcloth wet and put it in the freezer she liked chewing on it and her toothbrush was a good chew toy too!
