Cloth Diapering

Diaper Rash and CD

What do you do when DC has diaper rash?  My DS developed a slight case of it overnight and I'm not quite sure what to do about it with my CDs.  I had a few sample diapers in his size that I used during the day with the cream but I'm out of those and I don't want to ruin my CDs.  Could I put the cream on him then use a small folded piece of an old undershirt of DH's to act as a barrier?  This is DS's first rash and he STTN for the first time last night so I think that might have something to do with it. I just stripped his diapers Friday night if that makes any difference. I would be grateful for any advice you ladies could give me.

Re: Diaper Rash and CD

  • If you are comfortable using a cream (which I totally am), just do that and use something as a barrier. I use fleece liners as a barrier when DD has a rash and needs cream.

  • You don't need a barrier if you use CD safe cream.  I love CJ's BUTTer.  You can also use coconut oil.

  • spritz baby's bottom with a half and half solution of vinegar in water with each change (it won't hurt, I promise) and apply California Baby cream. It's CD safe.
