Dumb labor question - clicky poll

When people ask you how long you were in labor, how do you answer? Do you count from when your contractions started, when you were admitted to the hospital, or when you started pushing?

My contractions started on a Sunday night but were not 5-1-1 and continued until I LO made his grand entrance. I was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night and he arrived Wednesday morning.

I never know how to answer "how long were you in labor" when people ask without giving them the whole story. LOL.

I votes SS since my water broke before contractions. I counted from the time my water broke.

I was admitted to the hospital on a Monday for induction, and had him on Wednesday.  I say I was in labor for 3 days..I really wasn't, but the whole story is far too long.

I started cytotec on Wednesday at noon with minor contractions on the monitor before they even started the medication.  

I count labor starting thursday at 3am when my water broke and that was when I had intense contractions that I could feel.

I said ss because I was induced, so contractions started as soon as I was admitted (pitocin) and my water was broken right then too.

I was induced. I answer from when they hooked me up to the pitocin. I was getting contractions before then, so they just continued to get more frequent/strong after that.

I had 5-1-1 contractions for more than a week, so I count from when we went to the hospital, which is still 18 hours before she was born!

 This.  I had 11 hrs of nothing  after my water broke before  I had to start pitocin.  I had 14 hrs of contractions plus pushing.  I tell people 25 hrs.

I count from when they started, so total, I was in labor for about 50 hours.  They started about 15 minutes apart at 6:30 p.m. on a Sunday.  I was in the hospital early Monday morning because they had gotten down to five minutes apart and were pretty intense, but once in the hospital, they went back to 12 minutes, so I was sent home.  They stayed 10-20 minutes apart with some closer Monday evening, then by 3 a.m. Tuesday morning they were about seven minutes apart and really painful.  I walked around the downstairs part of my house for hours because it was the only thing that seemed to somewhat help.  I was afraid to go back to the hospital because I didn't want to get sent home again, but my mother convinced me late Tuesday morning.  Went back to the hospital Tuesday afternoon with contractions about five minutes apart, and they admitted me.  I wasn't going to get an epidural, but I hadn't slept for two nights because of the contractions and didn't know how I'd be able to push without some pain relief.  The first epidural didn't work, so they gave me a second at about 5:30 p.m., which worked.  I started pushing at about 8:55 p.m., and Luke was born at 9:08 p.m.  So, although it was off and on, I say my labor started when the contractions started since they were close enough to take away any chance of real sleep for two nights in a row.  Totally worth it though!

I said SS because my water broke so they induced me with Cytotec and I count from about an hour after the Cytetec when my contractions got really strong.
